Weyerhaeuser Co. to sell hardwood mill in British Columbia
Timber and wood products producer Weyerhaeuser Co. said Monday it will sell its hardwood sawmill in Delta, British Columbia.
Weyerhaeuser said it will entertain initial expressions of interest for the sawmill and the associated timber harvesting rights up to Sept. 5.
The sawmill produces hardwood lumber for use in furniture, cabinetry and solid wood components. Materials are also used in low-grade dimension products for the pallet industry.
Weyerhaeuser announced a temporary downtime of the sawmill in February, citing the poor U.S. housing market and appreciation of the Canadian dollar. The company said the downtime, which affects 88 employees, will continue.
