FM Global certification makes iGPS pallet the only commercially available plastic pallet to hold FM 4996 and UL 2335 certifications
Intelligent Global Pooling Systems (iGPS Company LLC), operator of the world's first RFID-tagged all-plastic pallet pool, announced today that its plastic pallet has received FM approval and certification from FM Global, a leader in global commercial and industrial property insurance and risk management solutions. The approval (American National Standard for Classification of Idle Plastic Pallets as Equivalent to Wood Pallets) was granted after the pallet underwent "big burn" fire tests as well as a number of other necessary tests conducted on the plastic pallets. The pallet's FM approval follows UL 2335 certification from Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. in 2007.
"This approval establishes unequivocally that our pallet meets the high fire retardant standards of FM Global, an important authority in the eyes of insurance professionals," said Bob Moore, chief executive officer of iGPS. "We are proud to offer the only commercially available plastic pallet holding fire retardant certification from both FM Global and Underwriters Laboratories."
iGPS' pallet, which is embedded with four redundant RFID tags, weighs 30% less than typical multi-use wood pallets, is more durable than wood and is 100% recyclable. Moreover, an independent life cycle analysis recently found that iGPS' pallet outperformed multi-use wood pallets on every environmental dimension.
In just two years, iGPS has revolutionized the way goods are being shipped throughout the U.S. supply chain. Many of America's top companies now ship on iGPS pallets, including QTG (Quaker Tropicana Gatorade), the Chicago-based division of PepsiCo, Dole Fresh Vegetables, Imperial Sugar, Pilgrim's Pride, Martori Farms and other top-tier brands.

In addition, embedded RFID tags enable shippers and receivers to track and trace shipments in real time.
